Jury Announced for Karger’s Sixth Annual Vesalius Innovation Award

Basel, Switzerland – August 2025 — Karger Publishers has announced the seven-member jury for the sixth annual Vesalius Innovation Award (VIA), which recognizes early-stage startups in health sciences and publishing. A total of $25,000 in prizes will be awarded this year, with $15,000 going to the winner and $5,000 each to two runners-up.

The 2025 jury includes:

  • Stephanie Dawson, CEO, ScienceOpen
  • Dr. Phill Jones, Co-founder, MoreBrains Cooperative
  • Hylke Koers, CIO, STM
  • Daniel Ebneter, CEO, Karger Publishers
  • Kate Gardner, Co-founder, scientifyRESEARCH and VIA 2022 runner-up

This year’s competition emphasizes responsible AI use, research integrity, and sustainable knowledge transfer. The top five shortlisted startups will present at STM Week in London on December 9, 2025, offering a platform to showcase innovations to global publishing and healthcare leaders.

Named after Andreas Vesalius, a Renaissance pioneer of modern anatomy, the award has been run in collaboration with the STM Association since its inception.
