“At Carrum Health, we’ve created a solution to bring value-based care into specific cost categories,” said Brent Nicholson, Co-Founder and Chief Partner Officer. “We started with surgical care, such as musculoskeletal, cardiovascular and bariatric surgeries.”
After seeing success with their model in these areas, Nicholson and his team have expanded the Carrum model to other high demand areas of healthcare.
“For the last couple of years, we have focused on cancer, which has risen to the number one cost category for employers,” Nicholson said.
Carrum evaluates and selects the top 10% of providers across the country, and contracts with them for transparent, bundled payments and a warranty on procedures. It offers self-insured employers access to a network of Centers of Excellence so their employees can receive top quality care at little to no out-of-pocket costs, while keeping costs predictable for the employers.
“We enable patients so they can focus on getting better, rather than fighting the healthcare system,” Nicholson added.
