Addressing the Teen Mental Health Crisis

The Behavioral Health Crisis in Teenagers is raging, and according to one The Digital Health Hub Foundation Digital Health Awards Finalist for both Pediatric Adolescent Care Innovation and the Mental Health and Behavioral Health categories, there is another element that is equally important.

“They are also Digital Natives,” says Nicoletta “Nicki” Tessler, Psy.D., M.B.A., CEO, BeMe Health. “They live these digital dominant realities, so if we don’t provide substitutes or high-quality mental health support in mobile ways, we will lose them to de facto support on social media.”

BeMe Health was built with digital tools for teens like content and care activities, plus 14-hour-a-day coaching and around the clock crisis support, with connections to therapy and psychiatry. BeMe Health pushes through the well-known stigma of adolescent therapy by offering a platform that is fun and captivating.

BeMe is growing their place in the market through collaboration with payers including Medicaid and commercial insurance. They also have a partnership with an employer group.

“We’re looking at provider groups so that we can be an augmentation to or adjunct to brick and mortar or other types of services. It’s that ecosystem thinking that will give us all that leap forward that our teens deserve,” Tessler concludes.
