ShiftMed has launched a new suite of AI-powered workforce management tools aimed at helping hospitals and health systems manage labor costs and improve operational efficiency amid growing financial and staffing pressures.

The Workforce AI Suite automates key aspects of clinician scheduling and staffing workflows, allowing health systems to reduce administrative overhead, better utilize internal staff, and limit dependence on high-cost external labor.

The rollout comes as hospitals face tighter margins due to rising labor expenses and changes in Medicaid reimbursement. ShiftMed’s tools are designed to help healthcare organizations respond to these pressures without compromising care delivery.

  • Instant Call-In Fulfillment: Automates last-minute shift coverage using AI-driven workflows. The system currently has a 71% success rate in fulfilling call-ins and is designed to reduce the manual burden on staffing managers.
  • Agentic Workflows via ShiftMed Flex: Streamlines staffing, credentialing, and onboarding through a centralized platform. Health systems using Flex have reduced time-to-hire by an average of 29 days and saved over two hours per transaction in scheduling and credentialing.
