Health Equity: Making good on a historically pivotal moment

HITshow caught up with SameSky Health CEO Abner Mason to learn about the current state of Health Equity on the cusp of HLTH2023, the most important healthcare industry event of the year.

Mason says that we’re at a pivotal time when we can truly create at a health system that works for everyone.

“We’re at a unique time in our country because there is alignment between regulators, healthcare stakeholders and the broader society that it’s no longer okay for our healthcare system to only work for some people. We can get beyond words, and actually address it. If we lean into this moment, we can create a health equity virtuous cycle.”

SameSky Health has created a technology platform that allows their health plan partners to achieve their health equity goals by collecting information on their members such as race, ethnicity, language, sexual orientation, gender identity and the social determinants of health so they can understand who their members are at a deeper cultural level.
