American Heart Association Expands Telehealth Education and Engagement for Clinicians

September 20, 2025 — Dallas, Texas

As telehealth continues to reshape healthcare delivery, the American Heart Association (AHA) is broadening its efforts to support clinicians through education, community engagement, and access to evidence-based resources.

Through the AHA Center for Telehealth, the Professional Education Hub, the AHA Podcast Network, and a growing professional community on LinkedIn, the Association is building a connected ecosystem designed to help healthcare professionals integrate telehealth effectively and sustainably into clinical practice.

The announcement coincides with Telehealth Awareness Week (September 14–20), underscoring the Association’s mission to strengthen digital care models that improve patient outcomes, expand access, and deepen patient-provider relationships.

A Central Hub for Telehealth Advancement

The American Heart Association Center for Telehealth serves as a comprehensive platform for advancing telehealth adoption across care settings. By combining the AHA’s strengths in research, standardization, policy, and education, the Center helps clinicians evaluate and apply telehealth solutions that elevate the standard of care.

“Through our scientific leadership and partnerships, we’re ensuring that telehealth solutions are thoughtfully designed, widely adopted, and aligned with evidence-based practices,” said Lee H. Schwamm, MD, FAHA, Chairperson of the AHA Center for Telehealth Advisory Committee; Senior Vice President and Chief Digital Health Officer of Yale New Haven Health; and Associate Dean of Digital Strategy and Transformation at Yale School of Medicine.

Building Competence Through Continuing Education

A key component of this strategy is the AHA Professional Education Hub, a digital learning platform providing on-demand courses, certification programs, and continuing education (CE) opportunities. Designed to meet the evolving needs of modern healthcare teams, the Hub offers clinicians access to expert-led, evidence-based resources to help them integrate new technologies and care models confidently.

“The best care starts with the best education,” said Dr. Schwamm. “The Professional Education Hub reflects our commitment to helping healthcare teams develop new competencies while staying focused on what matters most — improving patient outcomes.”

Connecting Through Conversation and Community

Beyond formal training, the AHA is cultivating spaces for shared learning and peer collaboration. The AHA Podcast Network – Center for Telehealth channel features interviews with telehealth leaders and innovators who are shaping the digital transformation of care. These conversations offer practical perspectives for clinicians navigating rapid changes in healthcare technology and virtual delivery models.

On LinkedIn, the Center for Telehealth professional community provides another entry point for engagement — connecting healthcare professionals across hospitals, academic institutions, and practices to exchange experiences and best practices.

Empowering Clinicians to Lead Digital Transformation

As healthcare organizations integrate telehealth into routine care, the AHA emphasizes that sustained progress depends on clinical leadership, education, and collaboration.

“As telehealth continues to transform care delivery, the American Heart Association remains dedicated to equipping healthcare professionals with the knowledge, skills, and connections needed to lead that change,” said Dr. Schwamm. “By engaging with our resources — from continuing education to professional communities and thought leadership — clinicians can help shape a future where telehealth is seamlessly integrated into practice, improving access and advancing outcomes for patients everywhere.”
