AdvancedMD Launches eMAR Solution Integrated Within Its EHR Platform
New electronic medication administration record is intended to support medication workflows across behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, long-term care, and specialty clinical settings
AdvancedMD introduced the Electronic Medication Administration Record (eMAR), a medication management solution integrated within the AdvancedMD EHR platform.
The eMAR is designed to support medication scheduling, administration, and documentation for behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, long-term care, and other specialty clinical environments.
Prescriptions created through AdvancedMD’s ePrescribing and Electronic Prescribing of Controlled Substances tools flow directly into the eMAR, where they are automatically scheduled and displayed in a dashboard. The dashboard is designed to help providers track medications that are due, overdue, completed, or unresolved.

The solution includes bed management and census tracking tools that allow facilities to monitor room and bed assignments, as well as admission, transfer, and discharge activity.
AdvancedMD eMAR also includes medication inventory management capabilities with real-time tracking at both the facility and patient levels. The system records when medications are received, dispensed, transferred, returned, lost, or reconciled.
The platform supports automated medication dispensing workflows for behavioral health, substance use disorder, and methadone treatment centers, with real-time inventory updates intended to reduce dispensing errors and improve workflow efficiency.
AdvancedMD eMAR also includes features tailored to methadone and substance use disorder programs, including integration with methadone-dispensing machines, bottle-level inventory tracking, take-home dose management with DEA-compliant labeling, and reporting aligned with central registry requirements.
Reporting tools within the platform support medication administration histories, controlled substance inventory, reconciliation, and audit preparation.
Additional features include patient observation scheduling, vitals documentation, nutrition tracking, and role-based alerts for missed medications, appointments, and follow-ups. Notifications can be sent by email or text to providers, administrators, or patients.
