KLAS Research Director Tyson Blauer explains that EMR purchasing continued at a strong pace in 2022 and included a significant uptick in migrations, esp with HCA Healthcare’s decision after a multi-year review to migrate from MEDITECH’s MAGIC to Expanse, which led to the largest number of hospital migrations MEDITECH has seen in a single year and also their highest retention rate in a single year, highlighting the strong confidence legacy customers have in Expanse.

Also of note, Oracle Health had good wins within the smaller provider space, but larger systems had concerns and were leaving, so they experienced a net decrease in the number of beds but a decrease in the number of hospitals.

Improvements to clinician satisfaction, interoperability, and revenue cycle stability were the overall drivers in 2022, as Epic continues it’s dominance in the space.
